Advising

 Advising Process & Regulations

 

  1. For  Freshmen & Transfer Students  
    1. Get all required documents for admission.
    2. Take placement exams.
    3. If the student does not pass the exams, he/she will take remedial level courses + department predetermined courses, otherwise, he will take first year regular courses.
    4. Pay fees in the bank (General rule: for fall and spring: minimum number of courses is 4 and max is 5 for Canadian and 6 for Egyptian/Joint).
    5. Get stamped receipt with number of courses from Finance.
    6. Register courses with assigned advisor.
 
  1. For Current Students
    1. Accept or update your major sheet with your assigned advisor during regular registration time only (Failure to do so is concidered by default accepting the major sheet and no changes will be done after regular registration time)
    2. The student should pay the fees depending on time of payment as follow:

  1. Get stamped receipt with number of courses from Finance.

Failed a course twice and want to retake it

Retake the course plus another 3 courses (total 4 courses are allowed).

 

 

Failed a course 3 times

Must get Ministry's approval by signing a readmission form & paying a readmission fee of L.E. 600

Under Probation Definition:

Student who fails to attain GPA 55% for both (fall) semester and (weighted average of both the spring and summer) semesters for an academic year. 3 categories for Ups as follow:

Stage 1

GPA less than 55% for one academic year.

Restricted to register maximum in four credit courses in each term of the next academic year.

Stage 2

Continuing to attain GPA less than 55% for the second academic year.

Restricted to register maximum in two credit courses in each term of the next academic year.

Stage 3

Continuing to attain GPA less than 55% for the third academic year.

The student will be subjected to disqualification.

Potential Graduate Definition:

Students who are not under probation and meet the following criteria:

Canadian Program

Egyptian Program

12 to 16 courses remaining for Fall semester depending on GPA and summer duration (regular or 8 weeks)

17 courses remaining for fall semester

7 to 10 courses remaining for Spring semester depending on GPA and summer duration (regular or 8 weeks)

10 courses remaining in Spring semester
